About The Stonegate Singers

The Stonegate Singers is a community choir that anyone can join – no previous experience necessary! The director Jon teaches the music by ear, one part at a time. We believe that singing is everybody’s birthright.

The Stonegate Singers was set up by composer and researcher Jon Hughes. Jon believes the idea of a community choir is that people with varying levels of music experience can sing together.

Fantastic concert on Saturday night – Old Songs and New Songs!

The Stonegate Singers and Coracle Chamber Singers teamed up again to present a concert at York Unitarian Chapel, St Saviourgate, on Saturday 21st March. Sold out Ben and Dom workshop a great success

We had a great time on Sunday, hosting a workshop from the excellent Ben and Dom. They introduced us to some great new repertoire, including an arrangement of Tom Wait’s song Come On Up to The House, and Kathrine Polwart’s Follow the Heron.

Sell Out Christmas Concert at St Olave’s Church, Marygate
